Nutrition

Overview

In the wake of recent man-made and natural disasters, the US is placing a high priority on building up the nation's public health workforce.  Since 2002, Federal funding has increased for public health preparedness, including scholarship and loan repayment programs, workforce development grants, and funding for bioterrorism preparedness.  What does this mean for you?  It means that with a degree in public health, you’ll be in high demand – and on a career path filled with advancement opportunities.

Proper diet is the foundation of good health, from conception through old age.  While the study of nutrition is a key element of every public health program, some MPH students opt to focus in this area for their public health career.

Public health is a highly collaborative field, but especially in this area.  Public health nutritionists must learn to function productively and creatively on their own and in conjunction with a wide variety of other professionals in the health and science fields.
